Hello and before you readers kill me for calling it cartoons i will be talking about anime (not cartoons don't worry).

For those of you who don't know what manga or anime is allow me to explain, manga is (in general terms) a Japanese comic and anime which i won't say is a cartoon for the readers sake is a television show based on it's manga predecessor for those who are too lazy to read, i mean want a deeper experience through multimedia (Phew).
Naruto / Naruto Shippuden |
Now, you may think this sounds really childish, but anime and manga are very popular in Japan where almost every major television station in Japan will dedicate time slots specifically to air anime, and has grown outrageously in popularity across the nation where there are shows available for children but adults as well with a variety of genres ranging from action, to a slice of life, to horror, and then to romance, anime has it all from a G rating to a not so G rating to satisfy all ages.
One Piece |
Due to the widespread popularity of anime, many conventions such as Anime Expo and Otakon are held where fans or otaku (don't call anyone otaku in Japan it's offensive) meaning obsessive fan where they cosplay in honor of their favorite characters. At these conventions many can grab collectibles and enjoy the world of anime with like-minded people or if you are new to anime is a good opportunity to learn of one of the most popular forms of entertainment in Japan.
Otakon |
Now, if you are seeking to watch anime but are too scared (for whatever reason) you can search anime in your web browser and don't worry about the language barrier as there is usually a subbed or dubbed version of the anime in your language. However, i don't know many anime to recommend aside from the photos in the post so i recommend searching the web for popular anime.
Attack On Titan |
Overall this may not be something you want to do in Japan but is now an important aspect of modern Japan and growing in understanding of Japanese culture in the 21st century and is also a take home experience to enjoy watching with friends.
