Animal Cafes in Tokyo
Something that has taken over Tokyo recently is animal cafes. These cafes dedicated to specific animals have become part of a to-do-list on almost all Japan trips. Some of these cafes are home to a variety of animals; some include cats, dogs, rabbits, owls, parrots, goats and even other reptiles. In this blog, we'll mention a few of the must-go-to spots.
Dog Heart from Aquamarine
Tokyo's most popular dog cafe: Dog Heart from Aquamarine is located near Shibuya. Unlike the other animal cafes, this cafe puts off a more energetic vibe where you would often be greeted with wagging tails. The cafe is accompanied by multiple toy poodles, a few beagles, and one golden retriever.
Calico Cat Cafe
If you're a huge cat fan, this is the cafe for you. With said to be almost over 50 cats in this facility, there must be at least that you would be attracted too. This is a nice hangout spot where you can entertain cats with various toys or just unwind with kittens. You can even adopt some of the playful kittens and cats that are at the cafe.
This is another popular animal cafe, instead of the occasional dog and cat cafe; this is where it mainly features rabbits. This cafe is perfect for those who are looking for more of a calm and nursery-like atmosphere where rabbits and bunnies of all sizes and types are roaming around while visitors come into the cafe.
If bunnies and rabbits ain't good enough for you, Mimi also has a dedicated room for otters.
Ikefukurou Cafe
Ikefukurou Cafe is renowned for the variety of owls. The cafe features fourteen different owls where it is for viewing, photography and petting pleasures. Not many people get to see owls very often, but with a small cosy cafe where you can interact more with the owls, it is quite a unique experience, certainly worth visiting. Owl really recommend it!
Yokohama Subtropical Teahouse
A reptile cafe located in Yokohama promotes several types of reptiles such as tortoise, lizards and even snakes. Obviously, unlike other animal cafes, these reptiles are kept in a cage or tanks instead of being able to roam around. This cafe is also unique in the fact that you do not pay for how long you stay. Definitely worth checking out if you're in Tokyo.
